After viewing your classmates’ digital posters and reading the feedback comments left on your work, what new ideas or perspectives did you gain about your poster? Reflect on how the feedback influenced the way you think about your creative choices and describe what you learned about the creative process while designing and presenting your poster.

Prompt Response: After viewing my classmates’ digital posters and reading the feedback on my work, I gained new ideas about how creative choices can be interpreted in different ways. Some of the comments helped me see parts of my poster that were stronger than I realized, while others gave me suggestions on how I could make my message clearer. The feedback made me think more carefully about my design choices, such as my images, colors, and wording, and how they affect the audience. I learned that the creative process takes time, reflection, and revision, and that constructive criticism can help improve my work. Overall, this experience showed me that creativity grows when you are open to other perspectives.

Reflect on the simile and metaphor worksheet. Which topic challenged you the most when creating your figurative language, and why? In your response, explain what made that topic difficult and how you worked through the challenge (or what you might do differently next time).

Prompt Response: While completing the simile and metaphor worksheet, the topic that challenged me the most was appearance. It was especially difficult for me because I don’t always like the way I look, so writing about it made me feel uncomfortable and more self-aware. Trying to turn those feelings into similes and metaphors forced me to think more deeply about how I see myself. Even though it was hard, it helped me realize that my appearance doesn’t define my worth and that I can choose to describe myself in a more positive and understanding way.

Today you created similes and metaphors that reflect your struggles, growth, and resilience. In a well-developed paragraph, reflect on the process. What did you learn about yourself while writing your figurative language?

Prompt Response: Today, I created similes and metaphors that represented my struggles, growth, and resilience. While writing them, I realized that it was easier to express my feelings through figurative language than by saying things directly. Comparing my challenges to powerful images helped me see how much I’ve grown and how strong I’ve become through difficult situations. I learned that even when I face obstacles, I continue to push forward, and that resilience is a big part of who I am. This activity helped me better understand my own strength and the progress I’ve made.

Prompt: Describe how you spent your time, any activities, traditions, travel, hobbies, or moments that stood out to you. You may also discuss something new you tried, something you learned, or how the break helped you reset before returning to school. Keep your response appropriate for a school setting and focus on experiences you are comfortable sharing publicly

Prompt Response: Over my break, I spent most of my time working, going to the gym, and shopping for new clothes. Working helped me stay productive and earn some extra money, while going to the gym allowed me to focus on my health and build better habits. I also enjoyed shopping because it gave me a chance to refresh my wardrobe and express my style. Overall, the break helped me reset, stay active, and feel more prepared and motivated to return to school.

Prompt: If you had to describe how you show love using only three objects (for example: a playlist, a hoodie, a late-night snack, a long text message, etc.), what would you choose and why? Explain what each object represents and how it connects to your personality.

Prompt Response: If I had to describe how I show love using three objects, I would choose a long text message, a late-night snack, and a playlist. A long text message represents how I express care through words and making sure people feel heard and supported. A late-night snack shows my thoughtful side because I like to take care of people in small, practical ways when they need comfort. A playlist represents my personal and creative side, since sharing music is how I connect emotionally and show that I pay attention to what someone might enjoy.

Consider your experience reading The Color Purple (a fictional novel), Fences (a play/drama), and Wild (a nonfiction memoir). Which type of longer text did you enjoy the most, the novel, the play, or the memoir, and which did you find the most challenging? Explain your preference, describe what made that type of text more engaging or accessible for you, and reflect on how understanding your preference might influence how you approach future readings.

Prompt Response: I enjoyed Fences the most because the play format made the story feel more direct and engaging. The dialogue helped me clearly understand the characters’ emotions and conflicts without having to work through long descriptions, which made it easier to stay interested. I found Wild the most challenging because the memoir included more reflection and detailed narration that required closer attention to follow. Knowing that I connect more with plays will help me approach future readings by focusing on character interactions and considering strategies to stay engaged when reading longer narrative texts.

Prompt: Even if you have not presented yet, how did participating as a listener, note-taker, or responder during the Interactive Oral help you prepare for your own discussion?

prompt response: Participating as a listener, note-taker, and responder during the Interactive Oral helped me better understand the themes and ideas that could come up in my own discussion. By listening carefully to others, I saw examples of strong points and effective ways to support claims with evidence. Taking notes helped me organize key insights and questions I could use later. Overall, being actively involved made me feel more prepared and confident for my own discussion.
